چکیده
Abstract Globuligerina glinskikhae nov. sp. Gradstein & Waskowska and waskowskae are new species of Jurassic planktonic foraminifera from the Middle Dagestan Poland. G. with its remarkable ‘protoglobigerine’ test may be an early evolutionary offshoot oxfordiana (Grigelis). We consider to a possible forerunner Conoglobigerina helvetojurassica (Haeusler), first foraminiferal reticulate wall texture. Currently, is only known In some localities, specimens posses additional apertural opening, often lacking rim; function enigmatic. Iterative evolution of digitate planktonic foraminifera
—Digitate shell morphologies have evolved repeatedly in planktonic foraminifera throughout the Cretaceous and Cenozoic. Digitate species are usually rare in fossil and modern assemblages but show increased abundance and diversity at times during the Cretaceous and middle Eocene. In this paper we discuss the morphology and stratigraphic distribution of digitate planktonic foraminifera and establ...

The discovery of a new stem turtle from the Middle Jurassic (Bathonian) deposits of the Isle of Skye, Scotland, sheds new light on the early evolutionary history of Testudinata. Eileanchelys waldmani gen. et sp. nov. is known from cranial and postcranial material of several individuals and represents the most complete Middle Jurassic turtle described to date, bridging the morphological gap betw...
متن کاملMolecular versus taxonomic rates of evolution in planktonic foraminifera.
Neogene planktonic foraminifera are among the most widely used microfossils in the study of tempo and mode of evolution. Comparisons of taxonomic rates between the two major clades in this group have shown that the nonspinose globorotaliids have undergone a significantly more rapid evolutionary turnover than the spinose globigerinids (S. M. Stanley et al., 1988, Paleobiology 14, 235-249). In or...
